Nice list! I’ll have to check some of those books out. I read All The Light We Cannot See. It’s a good one. If you like that one, you should also add The Last Green Valley, Beneath the Scarlet Sky, and All The Glimmering Stars. I just finished the last one I mentioned. It's an excellent book.
You might not believe it, but at this very moment, I’m sitting in front of a shelf that has those exact books in that exact order. Isaac and Maximus are also high on my unlisted list.
Great reading list. For learning Russian, just make sure you do vocabulary every day and get chatgpt to ask you one question that takes you a paragraph and then have it grade how well you wrote it. You'll pick up the nuances in no time. Going through an intro grammar while you do it will be great.
Good call outs. This is the first time I’ve had the ability to learn a language with an LLM—I wish we had them back when I learned my other languages! That being said, I also have Penguin’s Russian book and it seems to cover all the A1+ grammar I need.
Yeah yeah exactly. I remember scouring for weeks and paying tutors to figure out some logic stuff that wasn't online and I ended up just giving up but llm came out and was straightforward about it. I definitely want to try to cram 100 flashcards every day and do chatgpt and the grammar book for 30 days and see how far I get. Haven't tested it out yet. Keep us updated on your progress.

Haha, I have that same exact lineup of the Ascetical Homilies, Divine Ladder, and the Ambigua on my shelf 😄

The Ambigua is a true masterpiece of Christian Neoplatonism ❤️ Still need to get around to finishing the second volume... 😅
I just realized that lineup of books was the featured image of this post, so I guess you can believe my previous comment haha
Looks like a great list Sam.
Sir, please make correction on garcia Marquez's book as 100 years of solitude. 😇
Note to self: hire proofreader 😊

Awesome list!
I am envious of your opportunity to read the Magic Mountain in German or Tolstoy in Russian. Enjoy!
